Grammar, punctuation and formatting
Presenting material consistently is fundamental to all good writing. It is particularly important in the web environment where most people depend on visual cues to orient themselves. It also helps them understand the navigation and grasp the overall structure of a page or unit, and to react intuitively to unfamiliar parts of it.
To reduce visual clutter, especially on a webpage, and maintain consistency pay particular attention to:
- capitalisation of page titles, headings and subheadings
- punctuation (especially of bulleted lists)
- size of the page.
Remember the general principles about visual clutter and avoiding too much content per page.
