SI Units

The SI units (abbreviated from the original French: Le Système International d'Unités) make up the International System of Units, which is the the modern form of the metric system.
The International System of Units consists of:

  • A set of seven base units
  • A set of derived units with special names, (22 named and an indeterminate number of unnamed coherent derived units)
  • A set of decimal-based multipliers that are used as prefixes
