Semi colons
Semicolons help you link two independent clauses that have two or more closely connect ideas (or parts). Those ideas are then given equal position or rank.
For example:
- Some people cook with a microwave; others cook with an oven or hob.
- But however they choose to cook, people are allowed to make their own decisions; as a result, many people swear by their cooking methods.
Avoid using a colon if a semicolon is needed.
