Assessment - Quizzes

Quizzes are typically used for knowledge based questions where a known answer is to be provided. Quizzes may be used for both Summative and Formative (in content) assessment.
Quiz Categories
In the Assignments area all assignments are to be divided into three categories:
Assessments - For Summative assessments affecting gradebook outcomes.
Learning Activities - Formative in Learning Content type activities
Student Acknowledgement - May be used for assignment where the student is required to acknowledge they have completed knowledge based learning before attempting a summative assessment.
Categories may be edited using the Edit Categories Button.
Learning Activities and Student Acknowledgement Categories are not required if the content or assessments do not require Assignments within them.
Creating a New Quiz
After selecting the New Quiz button to create a Quiz the user is presented with a page similar to below.
The quiz setup is a five-panel wizard. Wording for auto marked and educator marked, standard feedback and standard settings appears below. Quiz type test can be appended to suit the assessment as required, provided the standard wording remains.
Quiz Settings
Using the Quiz Setup Wizard adopt the following setting when appropriate.
Properties TAB 1
Name Field - The name field is completed using the format - Assessment Task (Number) - Type of Assignment (Attempt (No.)).
Category - One of the the three categories - Assessments, Learning Activities, Student Acknowledgement is selected.
Description - The appropriate wording for the the type of quiz instructions is added. See the Appendix for Summative Quiz Instructions.

No settings required.
Assessments TAB 3
An Auto marked Quiz
Automatic Grade - Check attempt to be set as graded immediately before completion.
Auto Export to grades - Allow automatic export to grades.
Attempts Allowed - 2
Retake Incorrect Questions Only - Check On new attempts, only allow answers for previously incorrect questions.
A Teacher marked Quiz
Automatic Grade - Not checked
Auto Export to grades - Allow automatic export to grades.
Attempts Allowed - 2
Retake Incorrect Questions Only - Check On new attempts, only allow answers for previously incorrect questions.
