Instructional Tables
Use the tables listed here in your content where appropriate. They all appear in the content template, so just copy the table to the location you want, and add your content in the bottom row, making sure to delete the instructions in red. Each table will have its icon automatically added during development; you do not need to add any.
Activity |
If you are asking the student to demonstrate or do something, use this table and provide clear instructions. |
Audio |
Direct the student to listen to the audio clip as it is relevant to the topic being discussed. |
Case study |
Use this table for a case study with examples of procedures and documentation, or images. |
Did you know? |
Use this table if you’d like to include an interesting relevant fact or piece of information that is not required knowledge but a “nice to know”. |
Document |
Use this table to link to a document that is opened separately and is not part of the content on the page, for example a sample report. |
Example |
Use this table to highlight an example based on previous text or page content. |
Important |
This table is useful in order to highlight or bring attention to an important point, fact or aspect of content. |
Legislation |
Use this table to highlight legislation (statutory law) related to the topic |
Note |
Use this heading to denote further explanation in the form of explanatory notes, to highlight information that is additional to, or expanding on the preceding content |
Reading |
Use this table for an essential reading for the student, not a “nice to know”. This may be in the form of an attached document or a direction to a textbook. Please reference readings in your required referencing standard |
Recall |
Use this table to reference content from a previous page of the same unit or a different unit altogether. Do not link to other Connect pages; just direct the student with instructions. |
Reflect |
Add instructions to this table for a reflective task, something you would like the student to think about or reflect upon. |
Research |
This table is used if you want to point the student to readings, websites, etc. for ‘deeper’ learning (that is nice to know but not mandatory). |
Safety |
Use this table to highlight important information relating to workplace health and safety. |
Scenario |
Use this table for an imagined or projected sequence of events, with detailed plans or possibilities. |
Self-Check |
Use this table to add self-check questions for the student to check their understanding of the material that has been covered. See Self-Check Questions for the types of questions available. |
Sustainability |
Use this table to highlight useful tips for sustainable work practices. |
Tip |
Use this table to highlight helpful ideas or tips relevant to the topic being discussed. |
Video |
Use this table to add a video that is relevant to the topic being discussed. In this table you should include an introductory sentence that explains what the student will learn, and then add the link to the video. Do not use videos as a sole source of essential content as they may not be there in the future. |
Web link |
Use this table to add a web link that is relevant to the topic being discussed. In this table you should include an introductory sentence that explains what the web page is about and who the information belongs to, and then add the link to the web page. Do not use web links as a sole source of essential content as they may not be there in the future. |
