Check all media for copyright compliance.

Any media that is owned by TAFE Queensland still requires attribution to comply with the Educational institutions statutory licence.

Click the links below for instructions for each type of media:

 Images

Check the ownership of all images. For the following types of images, add the correct attributions as linked below:

For all other images check the licence terms to determine if they can be legally used. If the image is able to be used, add the correct attribution – see Used under licence for the attribution format.

If we do not have permission to use the image under any existing licence you can do the following:

  1. Seek written permission, see: Requesting Copyright Permission,

  2. Source a stock image replacement,

  3. Design a new image to be created by a graphic designer if you have access to one - it must be different enough from the original that it cannot be recognised in the new image, while still communicating the same information.

  4. If no licence prevents it, use the image under the Educational institutions statutory licence.

 Videos

Videos created by TAFE Queensland require attributions and copyright notices to be included in the video. See TAFE QLD Produced Video for more detail.

Also visible branding needs to be considered when creating videos for TAFE Queensland see Video: Visible Branding for more.

Publicly available videos, e.g. YouTube, Vimeo etc. do not require any attribution, however for consistency and educational soundness an introductory sentence identifying the owner of the video is added before the video.

It is critical to check that the video has been uploaded by the copyright owner. If this is not the case it needs to be replaced or removed. See YouTube - Copyright considerations.

 PDFs and other documents

If a document is available on the web link out to it, if not ask the library if they have it or can source it.

If the document has been purchased by someone other than TAFE Queensland, it is not possible to upload it to Connect unless the licence explicitly allows it. For example a journal article purchased by a teacher via their personal account cannot be used unless the licence agreement states that it can be copied and communicated to others. See Electronic journals.

Third party material purchased under licence

Check that the licence terms of use have been adhered to where the material has been used including attribution and distribution requirements.

Also ensure that the licence is attached to the unit in ResourceBank.

 Other 3rd party material

Any material that does not belong to TAFE must be checked for permission to use, or removed/replaced.
