How the assessment documents support each other

a)     All Written Assessment Tools provide instructions about the assessment task to be undertaken and are supported by a marking tool – Assessment Marking Criteria sheet i.e. Marking Guide or Marking Sheet.

b)    All Practical Assessment Tools provide instructions about the assessment to be undertaken and includes clear task criteria to determine performance. An Assessment Marking Criteria sheet is not required for Practical Assessments.

c)     If supporting evidence is gathered by the use of a Portfolio or Third Party Report, a supporting Assessment Marking Criteria sheet is required.

d)    The Assessment Marking - Benchmark Answers template should be prepared to assist assessors when marking to ensure assessment judgements are consistent. This is not provided to students.

e)     If a Practical Assessment Tool includes supplementary questions, a supporting Assessment Marking - Benchmark Answers is required.

Naming Conventions

In the interest of standardising the way assessment suite documents are saved, the following naming conventions have been developed:

General documents

Example: Unit Study Guide for BSBHRM506

File name : BSBHRM506_UG_TQM_v1

BSBHRM506 _UG_TQM_v1
Unit code

template type code

(refer to table 1)

Region (Master Product)

Version (to identify alternative documents)

Assessment documents

For Assessment tasks, it is important to also include the Assessment Task number as it appears in the Assessment Summary with the Unit Study Guide. In this instance the naming convention would be:

Example 1: Assessment task 1 (Written Assessment) for BSBHRM506

File name : BSBHRM506_AT1_W_TQM_v1

BSBHRM506_AT1 _W_TQM_v1
Unit codeAssessment Task No.

template type code

(refer to table 1)

Region (Master Product)

Version (to identify alternative documents)

Benchmarking Answers and Marking Criteria

For Benchmarking Answers and Marking Criteria, replace the Assessment task number with Benchmark Answers number or Marking Criteria number (number to match the assessment task).

Example 1: Assessment Benchmarking Answers ( for Assessment task 1 Written Assessment) for BSBHRM506

File name : BSBHRM506_BA1_W_TQM_v1

Example 2: Assessment Benchmarking Answers ( for Assessment task 2 Written Assessment) for BSBHRM506

File name : BSBHRM506_BA2_W_TQM_v1

Example 3: Assessment Marking Criteria ( for Assessment task 1 Written Assessment) for BSBHRM506

File name : BSBHRM506_MC1_W_TQM_v1

Online Quizzes - Any print version of Assessment task description for online quizzes currently use the "Written" template, and simply indicate that this assessment quiz is to be performed online. For this reason the current decision is to use the "Written" assessment naming conventions for any Assessment task descriptions, Benchmarking Answers and Marking Criteria associated with Online Quizzes.

Clustered Assessments

For Clustered assessments Replace the single unit code with either the unit codes of both units in the cluster, or the general cluster name:

Example 1: BSBHRM506_BSBADM501_AT1_W_TQM_v1

Example 2: Recruitment_Cluster_AT1_W_TQM_v1

Qualification/Program identification

Assessment and Learning resources should be saved with the relevant Qualification Code preceding the document naming convention. This applies to all situations described above.

Qualification code_Unit Code_Template code_ Region/Master_Version

Example: BSB50513_ BSBHRM506_UG_TQM_v1

Version Control

Template Version Number

Template version control is included at the bottom of all TAFE Queensland Learning and assessment templates on the left hand side. Do not update these. These dates refer to the templates version numbering.

Example:

123 TMP A - Assessment - Test / Exam              Ver. 1.1 (21/12/2015)                                                                           Page 1 of 1

Document Version Number

A document version number used at the end of the naming convention is to identify the version of the document itself e.g. the Assessment Task for a unit BSBHRM506. The convention to follow is to simply include a ‘v’ followed by a number.   As the document is updated, a new version number is added.

Example:

BSBHRM506_AT1_W_TQM_v1

BSBHRM506_AT1_W_TQM_v2 (v2 indicates that the original version has been updated)

For instances when an alternative assessment tool is required (e.g. re-assessment, online version in Connect, for a different learner cohort, or mode of delivery, or is customised for a partnership/auspice arrangement), the preference is to add ‘alt’ plus a sequence ‘no.’ to the end of the naming conventions.

Example:

BSBHRM506_AT1_W_TQM_ALT2 (indicates that the assessment is an alternative assessment e.g. for re-assessment)

BSBHRM506_AT1_W_TQM_ALT3 (indicates that the assessment is an alternative assessment e.g. for auspice/partnership arrangement)
